Welcome to Our Website

The website you have just entered is designed to bring glory to God by offering information about:

  • The Bible: This book is the only revelation from God on earth. It addresses everything that anyone needs to know and do in order to get from here to heaven (2 Peter 1:1-11).
  • The church of Christ at Duluth, Georgia: This is a congregation of people who are members of the one church that Jesus purchased with His blood and established in Jerusalem (Acts 20:28; Matthew 16:13-20; Acts 2).
  • The home: This is an essential part of God’s arrangement for men, women, and children in order to learn and grow in wisdom physically, spiritually, and in interaction with other people in daily life (Luke 2:52; Ephesians 5-6).
  • Other good works: This means that our website contains information about a wide variety of Bible subjects as well as links to other sites where you can obtain help and learn about evangelism, Christian evidences, and every good work.

Our intent is to please Him while offering a variety of studies and methods of learning that will encourage you to stay here awhile, come back to visit, and to understand the wonderful ways of God.

WHO WE ARE

The church of Christ at Duluth is a part of a community of 800,000 people in Gwinnett County, Georgia.  We have designed this site because we believe that the church is important since Jesus believed it was important, purchasing the church with His blood (Acts 20:28).

We invite you to search this site because we want to share with you our intense desire to answer the prayer of Jesus Christ that we would all be one (John 17:20-21).  His prayer for His followers is among His dying words on the night of His betrayal.  His prayer is followed by a plea in 1 Corinthians 1:10-13 for Christians to be of the same mind and to speak the same thing.  His prayer is accomplished in us when we follow the plan for oneness in Ephesians 4:1-16—a plan that includes oneness in attitudes, beliefs (doctrines), and actions as members of His one body, or church (Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18).

WHERE WE STAND

Our stance is upon the fact that the Bible is God’s only revelation to us regarding what we are to believe and do.  Our goal is to always accept the scriptures as the source of the things that are good and to reject all things that are not given endorsement by God in His word (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; Revelation 22:18-19).

For example, we believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as members of the Godhead (Matthew 3:13-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14). We believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, Who is the only begotten Son of God (1 Corinthians 15:1-3; John 3:16).  We believe that Jesus only established one church (Matthew 16:13-20). We believe that the Bible defines all standards of morality, human relations, and family needs for all people (Colossians 3:1-4:2).

We have no earthly headquarters, creeds, or clergy since none of these is found in the New Testament. We are organized according to the pattern found in Philippians 1:1, with bishops (also called elders or pastors) and deacons.

ABOUT OUR WORSHIP

The Bible teaches that God has always expected people to worship Him—and that worship must be as He commands. “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).

An investigation of the New Testament shows that the early church met often, but particularly on Sundays. They worshipped God through five acts. They prayed to Him through Jesus Christ (our high priest). They studied the word of God as it was preached by faithful men. They sang to the Lord, making melody with their hearts (never using instrumental music). They took the Lord’s Supper each first day of the week. And they supported the church through free-will offerings as they were prospered.

Any time the worship deviated from this simple pattern, they were called back to it by the apostles.

(See Acts 20:7-11; 1 Timothy 2:1-15; Hebrews 4:14-16; 2 Timothy 2:2; Acts 2:1-42; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29; 16:1-2).

WHAT WE DO

This congregation is overseen by three elders. The church at Duluth is involved in a number of local works, including regular door-to-door evangelism, ladies’ class, Vacation Bible School, a youth program, benevolence, frequent fellowships with one another, our weekly assemblies for worship, Bible correspondence courses, home Bible studies with people who desire further study, classes at a local nursing home, and live broadcast of our worship and adult classes.

We are also involved in helping to take the gospel to other parts of our state and country by supporting and going there to spread the gospel. A number of us also travel abroad every year.

Additionally, we have a multimedia ministry working around the world. The work of “Truth for the World” has generated thousands of favorable responses to the gospel since 1992.

COME AND SEE

When the angel was helping Mary to realize that the Lord was risen, he said, “Come, and see...” (Matthew 28:6).

We likewise invite you to come to our services and see the simple, yet beautiful, New Testament pattern in action!

God “is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). It is due to His desire to have us with Him in heaven that He has a plan that can redeem us from our sin, keep us safe in this life, and take us home by His grace at the end (Titus 3:1-5; 1 John 1:7-10; Acts 20:32).

But we must learn His ways, heed His call, and keep His commandments.

“Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” “Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:14,17).

GO AND TELL

For many reasons, many do not “come and see.” Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).

This statement is one of the reasons why we are willing to “go and tell,” as the angel told Mary in Matthew 28. All people need to hear the whole gospel—not only because of that which the gospel can do—but because of the eternal danger which awaits those on “the broad way.”

Our invitation to you thus includes the way out of sin and into the church-family-temple-army-body-flock-vineyard of the Lord.

He commands us to hear His word, believe in Him, repent of all sin, confess His name and be immersed for the remission of sins (Mark 4:24; John 8:24; Luke 13:3; Matthew 10:32-33; Mark 16:16). He then adds us to His church (Acts 2:47).

With all of our hearts, we of the church of Christ at Duluth sincerely invite you to search the scriptures to see if these things are so (Acts 17:11).
